LAPT Violin Examination - Initial Grade

The Violin Examinations are designed to nurture strong technical foundations alongside musical sensitivity and expressive performance. Candidates are assessed on posture, bowing techniques, intonation, finger placement, scales, rhythm, sight-reading and musical interpretation. As students progress, the examinations introduce increasingly demanding repertoire, advanced bowing techniques, tonal refinement and greater expressive control. Initial Grade - Introduction to Music: Designed for beginners, this level introduces fundamental musical concepts, basic techniques, rhythm, note recognition and simple musical performance.
